Sault Unconference

Podcamp participants: how to get the most out of your day

by gerry

The first-ever Podcamp in Sault Ste. Marie is less than a week away. I am soooo pumped, and thrilled you plan to be a part of it. Podcamp will likely be the *biggest* event on social media for the Sault in 2010. It’s organized and led by people who care about you and our community. What could be better?

50 people have registered so far. Who is the one person you know who should be there? Take a moment to send them an invite.

Here are 3 ways you can warm up your social media muscles and promote Soo Podcamp:

  • Become a fan on Facebook
  • Post on Twitter or your Facebook profile that “My mom is making me go to SooPodcamp Feb 20 the biggest and baddest social media event in the Sault 2010 http://soopodcamp.com” (or whatever you prefer)
  • Share the Facebook event on your profile. Homework assignment: can you find the Share button on the right side of page

Session schedule online

So far we have 7 out of 9 slots filled on a wide range of topics. You probably noticed the obvious – there are two slots left. Is there a topic you want that isn’t there? Add your suggestion to the web site, most likely others want it to. Any open slots will be filled at the start of the day.

What must Podcamp do for you?

When I go to conferences, I set goals for myself to make the most of my time. What is it I truly want to learn? How many meaningful contacts do I intend to make? Yesterday a friend of mine coming to Podcamp shared how he wants to start an online business, but isn’t sure where to start. He’s hoping to get some ideas at Podcamp.

As organizers, we want to ensure you have a great experience. Take a moment to share your main objective for coming to Podcamp, your one heart’s desire. Just add a comment to the bottom of this post.

Putting the ’social’ in social media

There are before and after party events lined up. On Friday, come out to Loplops after work. The Ignite Sault crew is having a meetup to promote Ignite Sault 3. Co-owner Jen Bellerose is serving up pizza and of course there will be some videos from previous Ignites. If you stick around longer you can catch entertainment from Kalle Mattson with special guests Kathy O’Neill and Craig West.

On Saturday, we’ll be at Loplops again as part of the Hope4Haiti fundraising event. $10 gets you in for live music at any of the participating locations. More details on Facebook.

See you on Saturday!
